Study MBBS in Abroad | NEET may require from 2018

Candidates seeking admission to MBBS in abroad may need to clear National Eligibility-cum Entrance Test (NEET) from 2018. The Union Health Minister is planning to make NEET mandatory for aspirants seeking MBBS admission in abroad. It was suggested by the Union Health Minister that candidates will not be issued No Objection Certificate (NOC) for studying in foreign medical college if they could not clear NEET exam. If the medical student fails to receive NOC from MCI, they will not be eligible to practice in India.

Dr. CV Bhirmanandham, the vice president of MCI said that neither the candidates will be allowed to seat in the screening test nor they will be registered by MCI as doctors if the candidate fails to clear the NEET exam. This decision is taken to make the entry level qualification for medical education equal for all candidates. This decision will prevent the mediocre medical aspirant from getting a medical degree from foreign medical colleges on the basis of money or connections.

In the last five years the percentage of overseas MBBS candidates who have passed in Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) is very less. There can be two reasons behind these results – either the quality of medical education in foreign countries is not as par with the Indian standard or the students are not competent enough to qualify for medical education in India. In India, every medical aspirant has to clear NEET before getting admission in any medical college (government or private). But in many foreign countries entrance examination is not required for admission into MBBS. So many candidates who could not qualify for NEET in India fly to the foreign country for pursuing MBBS. Thus many incompetent students have pursued MBBS in abroad. MCI wants only competent students to join medical college whether in Indian Medical College or Foreign Medical College. That is the reason why MCI wanted to make NEET compulsory for every students seeking MBBS admission in abroad.

Thus it is the last opportunity for the students to take admission for overseas MBBS without any entrance exam. From the next year it will become compulsory for every student to clear NEET before take admission in medical college. So students who are willing to pursue MBBS in abroad should take admission in 2017 otherwise they have to clear the mandatory NEET examination from 2018. This is the last opportunity for the students to take admission for overseas MBBS without any entrance test. Students should reserve their seat in foreign medical college in this year before NEET become compulsory for overseas medical admission.
