Studying MBBS in abroad can be the most rewarding experience
in one’s life. It can change a person’s worldview, confidence and direction in
life. While studying in abroad, students will encounter with new customs,
culture, language, foods, climate etc. Every day student will get new
challenges and they will have to overcome those small and big challenges. In
those unfamiliar conditions, the students should follow some safety measure to
stay safe in that country. Some of these measures are as follows:
- Always be aware of your surroundings. You should always remain alert and should not wander alone in any unknown or deserted place.
- Should not carry any jewelry, expensive mobiles, cameras or any other costly items in public place.
- Should find out the safest mode of transportation in that country.
- Should use only official taxis.
- Should always read local newspapers.
- Should never indulge in any kind of demonstration or civil disturbance.
- Should always protect your passport and should always keep it with you.
- Should avoid engulfing in a crowd because it can lead to pickpocket.
- Should be well aware of the traffic rules of that country and you should follow the traffic rules such as, wearing seat-belt, helmet, etc.
- Should not acknowledge, especially females, in any catcall or other unsolicited attention from the locals.
- Should locate the nearest embassies and consulates of that country. The consulates can help you at the time of emergency, illness, injury or any other situations. The consulates can also help you in case your passport is lost, if required to contact your family or friends in abroad in case of any emergency.
- Should locate the nearest police station and hospitals.
- Should try to learn the language of the country where you are studying. You should be well aware of the culture of the country. This will help you to identify odd and dodgy behaviors of the local people.
- Should register yourself with the State Department of the country.
- Should get a travel insurance. This travel insurance will help you in case of health and accidental issues.
