In India getting admission in MBBS is very tough. You have to clear NEET examination and even after clearing NEET, there is no guarantee that you will get admission in the government medical college. The cost of private medical college is very high. You almost need 70-80 lakhs for completing MBBS course in private medical college in India. Thus it is better to take admission in abroad.

Many countries in the world offer top-class MBBS degree. Russia, China, UK, USA, Philippines, etc. are some advanced countries that have world-class medical universities. But it has been seen that Russia has become the most preferred destination to pursue medical degrees for Indians. Every year thousands of Indian students go to Russia for pursuing MBBS in Russia.  The following are some reasons why Indian students choose Russia over UK, USA, China and Philippines:

1. The relationship of India and Russia have been very healthy from decades and this has makes Russia as one of the most favourite destinations for pursuing MBBS in abroad.
2. In Russia the admission procedure is very hassle free and it is not required to clear any entrance examination for admission to MBBS in Russian medical universities. Admission is purely based on the marks obtained on 12^th standard.  But in other countries like UK, USA, China and Philippines admission procedure is not so easy and hassle free as that in Russia.
3. In Russia most of the medical universities are approved from Medical Council of India (MCI) and as such after getting MBBS degree from Russia, students can practice in India just by clearing a screening test conducted by MCI. But in countries like UK, USA, China and Philippines there are some medical universities which are not approved from MCI. So there is always a risk that if you pursue MBBS from a university that are not recognized by MCI, you will not be able to seat for screening test and will not be allowed to practice in India.
4. The cost of MBBS course in Russia is not very high. It is affordable for the middle class Indian public. But the cost of pursuing MBBS course in UK, USA, China and Philippines is so huge that a general middle class people cannot afford.
5. The cost of living in Russia is low. As such the overall cost of pursuing MBBS in Russia also becomes low. But in countries like UK, USA, China and Philippines the cost of living is very high and as such the overall cost also becomes high.
6. The quality of medical education in Russia is very high. In the list of top 100 medical universities in the world, about 30 medical universities are from Russia. Thus Russian medical universities are much superior to China or Philippines.
7. The climate of Russia suits the Indians and it is one of the major reasons why Indians favours Russia over UK, USA, China and Philippines.
8. Russians are very welcoming and they respect and help the foreigner especially Indians as their own family members. In Russia there are no religious issues and there is no incidence of racism in any Russian medical universities. Thus Russia is a safe place to study for Indians. Unfortunately this is not the case with UK, USA, China and Philippines.
9. The medium of instruction in Russian medical universities is for the foreign student is English. But the Russian medical universities also offers special preparatory course to all foreign students to study Russian language so that the foreign students can deal with the local patients easily during their practical oriented training.  But students have to face language problems while studying in China or Philippines.
10. Most of the Russian medical university gives more emphasis on clinical training to their students rather than the theoretical approach. This clinical training helps students to become expert in maintaining rapport with the patients, taking a comprehensive history from the patient, decision making on the various options of treatment, etc. This is not the case in countries like UK, USA, China and Philippines.
